Why PDF ?
I recomend uploading PDF format files. You should be able to convert any file format to PDF via a simple tool. I suggest a free PDF utility from PrimoPDF
Why do I recomend uploading design files as Portable Document Format (PDF) from Adobe ®.
- It is an open and standard format for document exchange.
- It is available on mutiple platforms(Macintosh, Microsoft ® Windows®, UNIX®, and many mobile platforms).
- People who do not have proprietry software installed (e.g. Microsoft ® Word ®) can view your files without purchasing additional software.
- PDF files are not easy to tamper with.
- They look exactly like original documents and preserve source file information — text, drawings, 3D, full-color graphics, photos.
- They are easy to create. PDF tools are setup as a printer driver, so it is as easy as printing your file.
- They are less prone to viruses.
The following alternatives to PDF can also be used for one or more of the design files. These are generally accessible to most customers
- JPEG format for photographic images. These usually have the file extension of .jpeg, .jfif, .jpg, or .jpe
- .GIF (Graphics Interchange Format) for images
- .BMP or .DIB (device-independent bitmap) or bitmapped graphics format
- .RTF (Rich Text Format) for cross platform word processor documents. This is a better alternative to Microsoft Word® document, but you cannot embed pictures or images.
- .TXT (text file) for plain unformatted text.
- .HTML or .HTM (HyperText Markup Language) for web page formatting text. Note any embedded objects (e.g. pictures and images) will not be uploaded together with the text.
If you upload your files in Word or other formats I will convert these into PDF for you. Unfortunately, I have not found a way of automating this conversion. So I have to do it manually for now.
